We have more than 100 active volunteers who contribute their time and energy to support Loaves and Fishes. They are truly the lifeblood of the organization. In 2020 volunteers gave more than 9,000 hours of time to support our mission. We welcome new volunteers all the time.
Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry started serving families in Hancock County over 40 years ago. During that time, we have received strong support from a number of community organizations and faith communities - both as board members and as volunteers. These individuals have contributed in countless ways to the success of our efforts.
Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry is a partner agency of Good Shepherd Food Bank. This partnership provides us with the opportunity to purchase healthy foods as significantly reduced prices while also providing support, information, grant opportunities and more.
Additionally, Loaves and Fishes is a member of the Hancock County Food Security Network. Through this network we are able to share information and resources with other food pantries, feeding programs and community organizations in order to better serve those in need in our community
Local grocery stores, Hannaford and Walmart, partner with us to provide produce, deli items, dairy items, meats, bread and desserts each day that we are open for service. We receive additional, periodic support from our local Shaw's.
